Here stands Warangal Fort with its famous Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, the carved gateway that is now the emblem of Telangana state. The city, on the Deccan plateau of southern India, forms one urban fabric with neighboring Hanamkonda. It's hot and dry much of the year, proud of its crafts, its handlooms and its granite temples.
