Rochester

Rochester es una ciudad del norte del estado de Nueva York, a orillas del lago Ontario y partida por el río Genesee, que forma cascadas (High Falls) en pleno centro. Fue la ciudad de George Eastman y de Kodak, y con ella creció una tradición de óptica, imagen y ciencia que todavía la define. También fue un hervidero del abolicionismo y del sufragio: aquí vivieron Frederick Douglass y Susan B. Anthony. Los inviernos son largos y nevados por el efecto lago. Es una ciudad de tamaño humano, culta y con un orgullo local muy marcado.Rochester is a city in upstate New York, on Lake Ontario and split by the Genesee river, which drops into waterfalls (High Falls) right downtown. It was the city of George Eastman and Kodak, and it grew a tradition of optics, imaging and science that still defines it. It was also a hotbed of abolitionism and suffrage: Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony both lived here. Winters are long and snowy from the lake effect. It's a human-scaled city, cultured and fiercely proud of itself.
