Nanded es una ciudad del estado de Maharashtra, en el interior del Decán indio, a orillas del río Godavari. Its importance is above all religious: it's one of Sikhism's holiest cities, because Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last human guru, died here in 1708 after proclaiming the scripture as the eternal guide. That's why Nanded draws Sikh pilgrims from across India despite sitting in a mostly Hindu, Marathi-speaking region. Beyond that it's a mid-sized commercial city with little tourist profile.
