Life happens by car, along commercial boulevards like Veterans Memorial and Metairie Road, and most people treat it as a calm (and cheaper) base for getting into the city. Mardi Gras floats roll through here, the Cajun seafood is good, and downtown New Orleans is 15 minutes away.
