It was one of the oldest British cantonments in the region, and today it is above all a place of memory: at Hussainiwala, about 10 km out, you'll find the National Martyrs Memorial — where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were cremated — and a flag-lowering ceremony facing Pakistan, an intimate version of the famous one at Wagah.
