It has a reputation for being tidy and clean, partly from its history as a British Army Gurkha recruitment camp. It's a crossroads between the lowlands and the eastern mountains, with much-visited Hindu temples on the surrounding ridges. Subtropical below, cooler on the nearby heights; a strong summer monsoon.
