Dehradun

Dehradun es la capital del estado de Uttarakhand, en el norte de la India, y se extiende por el valle de Doon, entre las estribaciones del Himalaya y los cerros Shivalik, con los ríos Ganges y Yamuna a cada lado. Su altitud moderada le da un clima más suave que las llanuras, razón por la que siempre fue ciudad de internados prestigiosos, institutos y jubilados. Es, sobre todo, la gran puerta de entrada al Himalaya: desde aquí se sube a la estación de montaña de Mussoorie y se baja a Rishikesh y Haridwar. Its moderate altitude gives it a gentler climate than the plains, which is why it was always a city of prestigious boarding schools, institutes and retirees. Above all, it's the great gateway to the Himalaya: from here you climb to the hill station of Mussoorie and descend to Rishikesh and Haridwar. Ringed by forests, litchi orchards and mountain air, it's a comfortable base more than a monumental destination.
