Banjarmasin es la mayor ciudad del sur de Borneo indonesio y capital de la provincia de Kalimantan del Sur. It's nicknamed "the city of a thousand rivers": built across the delta of the Barito and Martapura rivers, laced with canals and stilt houses where water is still street, market and backyard. Its signature sight is the dawn floating markets, where traders in canoes (jukung) sell fruit, vegetables and breakfast from boat to boat. It's a low-lying, humid, equatorial city and one of the gateways into the Kalimantan interior.
