Uijeongbu es una ciudad de la provincia de Gyeonggi, justo al norte de Seúl, conectada al centro de la capital por la Línea 1 del metro. For decades it was a US garrison town (Camp Red Cloud stood here), and from that era came its most famous dish: budae jjigae, "army stew," simmered with sausage, spam, kimchi and noodles, now with a whole street dedicated to it. It's a short hop from the demilitarized zone, ringed by mountains, and works as a commuter city and a gateway to the north.
