Tumbes es la capital de la región más al norte de Perú, pegada a la frontera con Ecuador y al océano Pacífico. Es tropical de verdad: calor y sol casi todo el año, a diferencia de la costa fría del resto del país. Su gran atractivo son los manglares —los únicos del Perú— y las playas del norte como Punta Sal y Zorritos. Se come marisco y ceviche norteño. Es también el paso terrestre principal hacia Ecuador.Tumbes is the capital of Peru's northernmost region, right against the Ecuadorian border and the Pacific. It's genuinely tropical: warm and sunny nearly year-round, unlike the cold coast of the rest of the country. Its big draws are the mangroves —the only ones in Peru— and northern beaches like Punta Sal and Zorritos. The seafood and northern-style ceviche are excellent. It's also the main land crossing into Ecuador.
