Tokat

Tokat es una ciudad histórica del centro-norte de Anatolia, en la cuenca del Yeşilırmak, a caballo entre la meseta y la región del Mar Negro. Fue plaza importante en época selyúcida y otomana, y todavía se nota: sobre la ciudad se alza el castillo de Tokat, y en el casco antiguo el Gökmedrese, una madrasa selyúcida del siglo XIII de portada azulejada, hoy convertida en museo. Tokat tiene además dos señas propias muy vivas: el tokat kebabı, un asado local de cordero, y la tradición del yazma, telas estampadas a mano con moldes de madera.Tokat is a historic city in north-central Anatolia, in the Yeşilırmak basin, straddling the plateau and the Black Sea region. It was an important center under the Seljuks and Ottomans, and it shows: the Tokat Castle rises over the city, and in the old town stands the Gökmedrese, a 13th-century Seljuk madrasa with a tiled portal, now a museum. Tokat also has two living hallmarks of its own: tokat kebabı, a local lamb roast, and the yazma tradition — cloth hand-printed with carved wooden blocks.
