Tekirdağ es una ciudad portuaria de la Tracia turca, la parte europea del país, asomada al mar de Mármara al oeste de Estambul. Es capital de provincia, tierra de llanuras cerealeras y campos de girasol, y un lugar más de vida cotidiana que de turismo internacional. It's a provincial capital, a land of grain plains and sunflower fields, and more a place of everyday life than international tourism. It has two food signatures famous across Turkey: Tekirdağ köfte, charcoal-grilled meatballs, and Tekirdağ rakı, the national anise spirit distilled here. Its Marmara seafront and the Ottoman Rüstem Pasha caravanserai are its images. Mediterranean climate tempered by the sea.
