Sullana

Sullana es una ciudad del norte de Perú, en la región de Piura, a orillas del río Chira, en pleno desierto costero. La llaman "la Perla del Chira" por el valle fértil que el río riega en medio de la aridez: aquí se cultivan arroz, algodón, mango y limón, que son motor de la zona. Es un nudo comercial y de transporte del norte peruano, punto de paso entre la ciudad de Piura, la frontera con Ecuador y las playas del litoral como Máncora. Clima cálido y seco casi todo el año, con calor fuerte cuando llega el fenómeno de El Niño. Se vive más como parada de ruta que como destino turístico.Sullana is a city in northern Peru, in the Piura region, on the banks of the Chira River, in the middle of the coastal desert. It's called "the Pearl of the Chira" for the fertile valley the river irrigates amid the aridity: rice, cotton, mango and lime are grown here and drive the local economy. It's a commercial and transport hub of northern Peru, a waypoint between the city of Piura, the Ecuador border and the coastal beaches like Máncora. Hot, dry climate almost year-round, with intense heat when El Niño arrives. It's experienced more as a stop along the route than as a tourist destination.
