Nukus

Nukus es la capital de Karakalpakstán, la república autónoma del noroeste de Uzbekistán, en pleno desierto de Kyzylkum cerca de lo que fue el mar de Aral. It's a Soviet-flavored city with an extreme continental climate, but it holds an unexpected treasure: the Savitsky Museum, one of the world's largest collections of Russian avant-garde art, saved from Stalin's censorship. Nukus is also the gateway to Moynaq and its graveyard of ships stranded in the desert where the sea used to be.
