Tiene su propia vida de ciudad italiana normal en torno a Piazza Ferretto, y al lado la zona industrial y portuaria de Marghera.Mestre is the mainland part of the municipality of Venice: this is where most real Venetians live, the ones priced off the island. It's linked to Venice by the Ponte della Libertà, and by train or tram you reach Venezia Santa Lucia in minutes. That makes it the practical, far cheaper base for visiting Venice without giving up a nearby bed. It has its own everyday Italian-city life around Piazza Ferretto, with the industrial port zone of Marghera alongside.
