It carries unusual cultural weight for its size: it holds the shrine of Lalon Shah, the 19th-century Baul mystic and poet, the heart of Baul music; and nearby at Shilaidaha stands the country house (Kuthibari) where Rabindranath Tagore lived and wrote. It's flat, hot delta farmland threaded by rivers.
