Es una ciudad de aire fronterizo, con influencia balcánica, famosa también por su torneo de lucha con aceite de Kırkpınar.Edirne sits in Turkey's far northwest, in eastern Thrace, next to the borders with Greece and Bulgaria, on the Meriç (Maritsa) river. It was the capital of the Ottoman Empire before the conquest of Constantinople, and from that era it keeps its greatest treasure: the Selimiye Mosque, a masterpiece by architect Mimar Sinan and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a border city with a Balkan feel, also famous for its Kırkpınar oil-wrestling tournament.
