Chimbote es un puerto pesquero en la costa del Pacífico, en la región de Áncash, y durante décadas fue la capital mundial de la harina de pescado. El Ferrol Bay and Isla Blanca define its waterfront, and the smell from the fishmeal plants is, for better or worse, part of its identity. This isn't a tourist town: it's industrial, built on fishing and steel (SiderPerú is here), with a hard-working rhythm. Most travelers pass through on the way up to the Callejón de Huaylas rather than for the city itself.
