Cergy-Pontoise es una ciudad nueva (ville nouvelle) del noroeste de la región parisina, en el Val-d'Oise, a orillas del río Oise. Built in the 1970s to relieve Paris, it blends the historic core of Pontoise — medieval streets and a cathedral — with the modern, university-driven urbanism of Cergy. Its most distinctive landmark is the Axe Majeur, a grand monumental axis designed by artist Dani Karavan. It's half an hour from Paris on the RER A.
