It's a land of hot springs — its thermal spa hotels are famous across Turkey — of marble (Afyon marble is exported worldwide), and of hearty food: it makes the country's best sucuk (spiced sausage) and kaymak (clotted cream). Not glamorous, but genuine and delicious.
