Yinchuan

Yinchuan es la capital de Ningxia, una pequeña región autónoma del noroeste de China poblada en buena parte por la etnia hui, musulmana de habla china. La ciudad se extiende en una llanura fértil regada por el río Amarillo entre dos desiertos, con la cordillera de Helan como telón de fondo al oeste. Fue capital del reino tangut de Xia Occidental (Xixia), y su vestigio más impresionante son las Tumbas de Xixia, grandes túmulos de tierra al pie de las montañas, apodados las 'pirámides de China'. The city sprawls across a fertile plain watered by the Yellow River between two deserts, with the Helan Mountains as a backdrop to the west. It was the capital of the Tangut kingdom of Western Xia (Xixia), and its most striking relic is the Western Xia Tombs, huge earthen mounds at the foot of the mountains, nicknamed the 'pyramids of China.' It's also the heart of an emerging wine region: the wineries on Helan's eastern slope (Helan Qingxue and many others) have put Ningxia on China's wine map.
