Wuwei

Wuwei es una ciudad de la provincia de Gansu, en el corredor de Hexi, el pasillo de oasis entre desierto y montaña por el que discurría la Ruta de la Seda hacia el oeste de China. Conocida antiguamente como Liangzhou, fue durante siglos un cruce clave de caravanas, budismo y ejércitos entre el interior chino y Asia Central. Su clima es árido y continental, en el borde del Gobi: veranos calurosos, inviernos muy fríos y poca lluvia. Aquí se halló el célebre Caballo Volador de Gansu, el bronce que hoy es símbolo del turismo chino.Wuwei is a city in Gansu province, on the Hexi Corridor, the string of oases between desert and mountain along which the Silk Road ran toward western China. Anciently known as Liangzhou, it was for centuries a key crossroads of caravans, Buddhism and armies between the Chinese heartland and Central Asia. Its climate is arid and continental, on the edge of the Gobi: hot summers, very cold winters and little rain. It was here that the celebrated Flying Horse of Gansu was found, the bronze that is now the emblem of Chinese tourism.
