Weihai

Weihai es una ciudad costera en la punta oriental de la península de Shandong, en el este de China, asomada al mar Amarillo y frente a la península de Corea. Es conocida por su aire limpio y sus playas, y por la isla de Liugong, en su bahía: allí tuvo su base la Flota Beiyang, la moderna armada imperial destruida en la guerra chino-japonesa de 1894-95, hoy con un museo naval. A finales del siglo XIX fue territorio arrendado a Gran Bretaña (Weihaiwei), lo que dejó huella en algunos edificios. Tiene clima templado marítimo: veranos frescos para lo que es China y inviernos fríos.Weihai is a coastal city on the eastern tip of the Shandong Peninsula in eastern China, facing the Yellow Sea and, across it, the Korean Peninsula. It's known for its clean air and beaches, and for Liugong Island in its bay: there the Beiyang Fleet, the modern imperial navy destroyed in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-95, had its base, now home to a naval museum. In the late 19th century it was a British leased territory (Weihaiwei), which left its mark on some buildings. It has a temperate maritime climate: summers cool by Chinese standards and cold winters.
