Tlemcen

Tlemcen es una ciudad histórica del noroeste de Argelia, cerca de la frontera con Marruecos, en un altiplano al pie de las montañas del mismo nombre. Fue capital del reino zayánida en la Edad Media y guarda una de las herencias islámicas y andalusíes más ricas del Magreb: mezquitas almorávides, las ruinas de Mansourah y la tradición de la música gharnati, heredada de Al-Ándalus. El clima de montaña la hace más fresca que el resto del país, y su entorno de olivares y cerezos refuerza esa sensación de ciudad de interior, culta y algo apartada de las rutas turísticas habituales.Tlemcen is a historic city in northwest Algeria, near the Moroccan border, on a plateau at the foot of the mountains that share its name. It was the capital of the Zayyanid kingdom in the Middle Ages and holds one of the richest Islamic and Andalusi legacies in the Maghreb: Almoravid mosques, the ruins of Mansourah, and the gharnati music tradition inherited from Al-Andalus. Its mountain climate makes it cooler than the rest of the country, and its surroundings of olive and cherry groves reinforce the feel of a cultured inland city, a bit off the usual tourist routes.
