Tlalpan is Mexico City's largest borough and its greenest: it runs from the southern edge of the sprawl, along Insurgentes and Calzada de Tlalpan, up into pine forest and the Ajusco volcano, the capital's highest point at nearly 3,900 m. Its heart is a colonial town with its Plaza de la Constitución, arcades, the San Agustín parish church and old mansions from when Tlalpan was a separate resort town outside the city. It's also home to Cuicuilco, one of the valley's oldest pre-Hispanic sites, a circular pyramid half-buried by lava from the Xitle volcano.
