Shilong es una localidad histórica del municipio de Dongguan, en la provincia de Guangdong, en pleno delta del río de las Perlas del sur de China. Today it's part of Dongguan's vast manufacturing belt, wedged between Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. It's famous across China as a "cradle of weightlifting," for the champions the sport has produced here. Cantonese is spoken and the climate is subtropical, hot and humid.
