Hillsborough and Walkley are the genuinely cheap end; Hillsborough has a direct tram to the centre, Walkley runs on buses (and a serious hill). Less café life, more ordinary city. Sheffield's gradients are not a joke — a neighbourhood a kilometre away can be a brutal climb on foot.

There's a Spanish-speaking community but it's small and university-linked. Daily life is entirely in English, with a Yorkshire accent that takes some adjusting to. People are genuinely warm in passing, but going from friendly to actual friends takes months.
