Puerto La Cruz está en la costa caribeña del oriente de Venezuela, en el estado Anzoátegui, y funciona como puerta de mar de la región. Su malecón, el Paseo Colón, es el centro de la vida ciudadana, con vistas a la bahía y a los cerros del complejo turístico de El Morro. Desde aquí salen ferris a Isla Margarita y se accede al parque nacional Mochima, un mosaico de islas, cayos y aguas turquesa entre esta ciudad y Cumaná. Es también un polo petrolero e industrial. El atractivo real está en el mar y las islas cercanas más que en la ciudad en sí.Puerto La Cruz sits on the Caribbean coast of eastern Venezuela, in Anzoátegui state, and works as the region's sea gateway. Its waterfront, the Paseo Colón, is the heart of city life, looking out over the bay and the hills of the El Morro resort complex. Ferries to Isla Margarita leave from here, and it's the access point for Mochima National Park, a mosaic of islands, cays and turquoise water between this city and Cumaná. It's also an oil and industrial hub. The real draw is the sea and nearby islands rather than the city itself.
