It sits on the northeastern edge of the Black Forest, where the Enz, Nagold and Würm rivers meet, and the region's three great long-distance trails (Westweg, Mittelweg, Ostweg) all start here. A February 1945 air raid flattened the old town, so the city is postwar reconstruction, functional rather than picturesque, but it's a very convenient gateway into the Black Forest.
