Its most characterful corner is Ko Kret, a river island formed by an artificial canal, home to a Mon community known for centuries for its unglazed earthenware pottery; you explore it on foot or by bike, and it's a popular weekend escape from Bangkok. More than a destination in itself, Pak Kret is the gateway to that island and to Chao Phraya riverside life.
