Nabatieh (Nabatîyé et-Tahta, la "parte baja") es la principal ciudad del sur del Líbano y capital de su gobernación, en un altiplano a unos 400 m sobre el valle del río Litani. Es una ciudad de mayoría chií, mercantil y de fuerte identidad, muy castigada por décadas de conflicto en la frontera con Israel. Es famosa por su mercado de los lunes y por las multitudinarias conmemoraciones de la Ashura. No es un destino turístico convencional y su cercanía a la frontera la hace sensible a la situación de seguridad; infórmate antes de ir.Nabatieh (Nabatîyé et-Tahta, the "lower" part) is the main city of southern Lebanon and the capital of its governorate, on a plateau some 400 m above the Litani river valley. It's a Shia-majority, commercial town with a strong identity, badly scarred by decades of conflict along the border with Israel. It's known for its Monday market and for the huge Ashura commemorations. It isn't a conventional tourist destination, and its closeness to the border makes it sensitive to the security situation; check conditions before going.
