Manzanillo is the great port of the Mexican Pacific, in Colima state, and a city with two faces: it's the busiest cargo terminal on Mexico's west coast, with huge ships entering the bay, and it's a beach destination with twin bays, sand ranging from gold to near-black volcanic, and a world reputation for sailfish sport fishing. It's warm and humid most of the year, more Mexican than foreign, with the Colima Volcano looming inland.
Mejor épocaBest time
Dry from December to May, with pleasant heat and calm seas. June to October brings rain, high humidity and Pacific hurricane season.
PresupuestoBudget
Cheaper than Puerto Vallarta or Cancún: it's a domestic destination. $800–1,500/month lives well; eating local seafood is inexpensive.

The city stretches between the two bays; there are taxis and local buses, but a car helps to move comfortably between beaches.
