Maguilov

Maguilov (Mahilyow en bielorruso, Moguilev en ruso) es una de las mayores ciudades de Bielorrusia, en el este del país, a orillas del río Dniéper y cerca de la frontera con Rusia. Es una ciudad industrial y administrativa, con un centro de arquitectura soviética y algunos edificios históricos supervivientes, como su ayuntamiento (la Ratusha) reconstruido. Estuvo a punto de convertirse en capital de la república en los años 30. No es un destino turístico habitual, sino una ciudad provincial de la Bielorrusia profunda, mejor entendida por su papel histórico y su vida cotidiana que por grandes atracciones.Mahilyow (Mogilev in Russian) is one of Belarus's largest cities, in the east of the country, on the banks of the Dnieper River and close to the Russian border. It's an industrial and administrative city, with a centre of Soviet architecture and a few surviving historic buildings, such as its reconstructed town hall (the Ratusha). It came close to becoming the republic's capital in the 1930s. It's not a usual tourist destination but a provincial city of deep Belarus, better understood through its history and everyday life than through major attractions.
