It sits at around 2,400 m (7,900 ft), with a mountain climate, and has become one of China's great domestic destinations: beautiful, heavily visited and quite commercialized, but with a mountain-and-minorities setting that remains exceptional.

Considera la altitud al esfuerzo.The Old Town is walk-only (no cars in its lanes). For Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and nearby villages like Shuhe or Baisha, use a tourist bus, taxi or tour. Factor in the altitude when exerting yourself.
