In the Wall years it sat pressed against it, nearly surrounded; today it ranges from the quiet bourgeois courtyards of Bergmannstraße to the buzz of Kottbusser Tor and Oranienstraße. The Jewish Museum Berlin and the old Checkpoint Charlie sit here, on the border with Mitte.
