Kisarazu sits in Chiba Prefecture, on the eastern shore of Tokyo Bay. Its big landmark is the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, the half-bridge, half-tunnel expressway that crosses the bay to Kawasaki, with the artificial island of Umihotaru halfway across — a rest area with 360° views. On the coast are tidal flats where people go clam-digging (shiohigari) in spring. It's a very accessible bayside escape from Tokyo.
