It's a calm commuter city best known for Jindai-ji, one of the region's oldest temples, ringed by soba stalls and the Jindai Botanical Gardens. Manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, creator of "GeGeGe no Kitarō," lived here, and the Jindaiji area is dotted with nods to his yōkai. By the Tama River stands the Ajinomoto Stadium, home of FC Tokyo.
