It was a seat of the House of Nassau —the family the Dutch kings descend from— and it shows: Breda Castle, today the Royal Military Academy, and the huge Gothic Grote Kerk dominate the old town. It's a city of bicycles, terraces on the Grote Markt, canals and a wild Brabant carnival in February. You can walk all of it, it has a Flemish-Burgundian feel (good beer, good food) and fast trains everywhere.
