Arica

Arica es la ciudad más al norte de Chile, pegada a la frontera con Perú, entre el desierto de Atacama —el más árido del mundo— y el Pacífico. La llaman "la ciudad de la eterna primavera" por su clima templado y seco casi sin lluvia todo el año. Sobre el mar se alza El Morro, el peñón que decidió una batalla de la Guerra del Pacífico. Es puerta de entrada al altiplano y los volcanes del Parque Nacional Lauca, y cuna de las momias Chinchorro, las más antiguas del mundo.Arica is Chile's northernmost city, hard against the Peruvian border, between the Atacama —the world's driest desert— and the Pacific. They call it "the city of eternal spring" for its mild, dry climate with almost no rain all year. Above the sea rises El Morro, the headland that decided a battle in the War of the Pacific. It's the gateway to the altiplano and the volcanoes of Lauca National Park, and the cradle of the Chinchorro mummies, the oldest in the world.
