Finlandia no tiene visa de nómada digital. Se habló de crearla hacia 2021-2022 y el rumor dio la vuelta a todas las listas de "mejores países para nómadas", pero nunca se aprobó: si una web te ofrece la visa de nómada finlandesa, te está vendiendo algo que no existe. The idea was floated and debated around 2021-2022 and it made the rounds of every "best countries for nomads" list, but no such permit was ever enacted — if a website offers you a Finnish nomad visa, it is selling you something that does not exist. What does exist, and works well for freelancers, is the self-employed person's residence permit (yrittäjän oleskelulupa), granted by Migri, with a "light entrepreneur" (kevytyrittäjä) variant for people who invoice through a Finnish billing service instead of running their own company. It is for someone who genuinely wants to live in Finland with their own clients and is ready to become a Finnish tax resident: real residence, real business scrutiny, high taxes and excellent public services — not a cheap tax hop.

Family members raise the requirement under Migri's own means-of-support table; the amounts per adult and per child change, so read the current table on migri.fi instead of trusting a number you saw on a blog. The employer-sponsored specialist route has a much higher bar (≈ €3,600-3,900/month gross, updated yearly), and the startup permit is judged on the business, not on your salary.

El permiso es el mismo para todo el que venga de fuera de la UE: Finlandia no tiene visa de nómada, así que la vía es el permiso de residencia para trabajador por cuenta propia, que decide Migri (con dictamen de rentabilidad del centro ELY en los casos clásicos de emprendedor). Lo que cambia según tu pasaporte no es la lista de requisitos, son tres cosas: si necesitas permiso o no, cómo entras al país mientras esperas, y dónde te identificas. Los ciudadanos de la UE/EEE y Suiza (España, por ejemplo) no necesitan permiso de residencia: sólo registran su derecho de residencia ante Migri pasados tres meses y pueden facturar desde el día uno (los nórdicos lo tienen aún más simple, con registro en DVV). Si tu pasaporte requiere visado (Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba, República Dominicana, buena parte de África y del sur de Asia) necesitas un Schengen incluso para pisar el país antes. Además, los trámites de frontera para exentos están cambiando con el despliegue del EES europeo y la autorización ETIAS pendiente: verifica cómo está la cosa antes de comprar vuelos. Everyone else applies through Enter Finland from abroad and books an identification appointment at the Finnish mission or external service centre covering their country of residence — that appointment, not the online form, is usually the bottleneck. Visa-exempt nationals (Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, the US, the UK, Brazil…) can at least visit Schengen for 90 days in any 180 while their file is processed, but tourist entry is not a work permission and does not let you jump the permit queue; visa-required nationals (Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba, Dominican Republic, most of Africa and South Asia) need a Schengen visa even to set foot there first. Border formalities for visa-exempt travellers are also shifting with the EU's EES rollout and the pending ETIAS authorisation — check the current state before you book. Finally, your passport determines your apostille and sworn-translation chain, and whether a double taxation treaty with Finland protects you from paying twice.

If you have to fly elsewhere, find out before paying the fee. And if you invoice Colombian clients from Finland, review with an accountant how your tax residence stands with DIAN after the move.

Ojo: el permiso empieza a contar desde la fecha de inicio que figura en la tarjeta, no desde el día que aterrizas, así que no dejes pasar meses. Si tu categoría lo permite (especialistas y emprendedores de startup han tenido acceso al visado D nacional, y su alcance se ha ido ampliando), puedes acelerar la entrada; verifica en migri.fi si tu caso entra.With a positive decision your residence card is produced and sent to the mission where you were identified, usually in ≈ 2-4 weeks. Careful: the permit runs from the start date printed on the card, not from the day you land, so do not let months slip by. If your category allows it (specialists and startup entrepreneurs have had access to the national D visa, and its scope has been widening), you can speed up entry; check on migri.fi whether your case qualifies.
8Al llegar: DVV, Vero, YEL y KelaOn arrival: DVV, Vero, YEL and Kela
En los primeros días haz la notificación de mudanza en DVV para obtener municipio de residencia y confirmar tu henkilötunnus. Después, en Vero, pide la tarjeta de impuestos y el pago anticipado (ennakkovero) como empresario. Contrata el YEL (pensión del empresario) si tu renta anual de la actividad supera el umbral de ≈ 9.000 €: es obligatorio y de él dependen tus prestaciones. Y solicita la cobertura de Kela si te mudas de forma permanente o si tu actividad alcanza sus mínimos. Este bloque no es burocracia opcional: sin él no tienes ni sanidad ni cuenta bancaria fácil.In your first days, file the notification of move with DVV to get a municipality of residence and confirm your henkilötunnus. Then, at Vero, request your tax card and prepayment tax (ennakkovero) as an entrepreneur. - Tras la decisión positiva, la tarjeta de residencia se fabrica y se envía: cuenta con ≈ 2-4 semanas hasta que puedas recogerla en la misión donde te identificaste (o recibirla en tu dirección finlandesa si ya estabas allí).After a positive decision the residence card is produced and shipped: allow ≈ 2-4 weeks until you can collect it at the mission where you were identified (or receive it at your Finnish address if you were already there).

Hasta que te la resuelvan, tu seguro privado sigue siendo tu red: mantenlo activo, no lo canceles el día que aterrizas.Kela: file the social security coverage application when you move permanently (intended stay of at least a year) or if your activity meets Kela's minimum work and income thresholds. Until it is resolved, your private insurance is still your safety net — keep it active, do not cancel it the day you land.

Si la pides a tiempo puedes seguir en Finlandia legalmente mientras se resuelve, y los 4 años continuos que dan acceso al permanente (P) cuentan desde el inicio del primer permiso A, no desde tu llegada física.Extension: apply before the permit expires.
