¿Cuánto necesitas al mes en Singapur? How much do you need per month in Singapur?
Singapore is Asia's most frictionless nomad base and its worst value for money: world-class internet, near-total safety, everything in English, cheap flights to half the region — but rent eats your entire budget. It works if you bill in dollars or euros with real margin, or if you're coming for a few months to ship something without friction. It doesn't work if the plan was to stretch your money: what buys you a room in a shared flat here buys a whole apartment in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur.

You won't have the classic nomad problem here. Singapore has sat at the top of global fixed-broadband rankings for years: 1 Gbps fiber is the residential standard at ≈US$30-45/month, with 2 Gbps and up available for a bit more. Latency across Asia is excellent; to Europe and the US it's the regional norm (don't expect miracles on calls to Madrid or New York). 4G/5G covers the whole island, including the MRT and tunnels. No blackouts — the grid is one of the most stable anywhere. The only thing that can bite you is shared building or shared-room wifi, so if you rent furnished, ask whether the fiber line is yours or the building's, and speed-test before signing.
CoworkingCoworking
The scene is big and very corporate: Singapore is a finance and startup hub, so there are dozens of spaces, most designed for teams rather than freelancers watching their budget. A monthly hot desk runs ≈US$250-400; private offices climb fast. Names that have been operating here for years: JustCo (Singapore-born chain, many locations), The Great Room (high-end, hotel-like) and Found8; WeWork operates on the island too. If money is tight, the real alternative is the public libraries — the National Library on Victoria Street (Bugis) and its branches have free wifi, aircon and outlets — plus cafés, though plenty downtown give you the look if you camp for four hours at peak time.
Tiong Bahru is the nomad-and-creative classic: 1930s art deco blocks, specialty coffee, a great hawker market, a couple of stops from downtown. Tanjong Pagar and Chinatown suit people who want to be inside the CBD, walk everywhere and barely touch the MRT — expensive and noisy, but dead central. Katong and Joo Chiat, out east, is where people go to pay less and live better: Peranakan shophouses, some of the island's best food, close to East Coast Park and the airport, in exchange for 20-30 extra minutes of commute. Robertson Quay and River Valley are textbook expat territory — pretty, riverside, gyms and brunch, priced accordingly. If you're stretching the budget, look at HDB flats in Toa Payoh, Queenstown or Bedok.
ComunidadCommunity
One of the easiest cities in the world to land in and function: English is an official working language and everyone speaks it, so there's no language barrier for paperwork, doctors, renting or making friends. There are tons of tech, product and startup meetups (mostly weeknights after work, in the CBD) and a huge foreign population. The nuance: much of that community is expats on corporate contracts with office hours, not nomads with flexible schedules, so the pure "digital nomad" scene is smaller than in Bangkok, Bali or Chiang Mai. The Spanish-speaking community exists but is small and fairly professional/diplomatic; you find it through Facebook and WhatsApp groups and embassy events. There's also heavy churn: people move on every two or three years, so you make friends fast and lose them fast.
Three things before you book. Rent. It isn't "a bit expensive" — it's the line item that defines your budget, easily half of everything. Standard leases run 12 or 24 months, the deposit is typically one month's rent per year of lease, and the law sets minimum stays: 3 months for private property (condos) and 6 months for HDB flats. So a legal one-month Airbnb-style stay barely exists here — very cheap short-stay listings may well be illegal and can get you turfed out. The visa. Singapore has NO digital nomad visa. Many Latin American passports get 30 days visa-free and several European ones get 90 — check yours with the immigration authority (ICA) before flying, since it varies by nationality. Working remotely for a foreign client on a tourist entry is a grey area everywhere, and here rules are genuinely enforced; don't count on hopping out and back forever, those visa runs get scrutinized. Weather and rules. You're practically on the equator: ≈31-33 °C and high humidity every single day, with heavy afternoon storms (wettest November to January). If you don't handle humid heat you'll live on aircon, and the electricity bill shows it (easily ≈US$80-150/month in a studio if you leave it running). And yes, the laws really are strict: alcohol is heavily taxed and expensive (a beer at a bar, ≈US$10-14), there are real rules about chewing gum sales, littering and drinking in public at night, and drug penalties are extremely severe, including the death penalty for trafficking. The upside: it's one of the safest cities on earth — you can walk alone at any hour in almost any neighborhood, and that's worth something.
Figures in US dollars and approximate, reviewed in September 2026, for one person. Rents move fast in nomad-heavy cities — use these to compare and budget, not as a quote.
