Seremban is the capital of Negeri Sembilan state, on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, less than an hour south of Kuala Lumpur. Its most distinctive trait is cultural: Negeri Sembilan was settled by Minangkabau people from Sumatra, and that heritage shows in the curved roofs shaped like buffalo horns and in a spicy cuisine of its own. The city grew with tin mining under British colonial rule and is now an administrative and commercial center of the conurbation stretching toward the capital. Equatorial climate: hot and humid year-round with frequent rain. It's more a waypoint and window onto Minangkabau culture than a major destination.
