Petah Tikva es una ciudad del Distrito Central de Israel, pegada a Tel Aviv y parte de su gran área metropolitana (Gush Dan). Su lugar en la historia del país es grande: fundada en 1878, es una de las primeras colonias agrícolas judías de la era moderna, y por eso se la llama Em HaMoshavot, la Madre de las Colonias. De aquellos campos y naranjales queda poco: hoy es una ciudad densa, industrial y de oficinas, con un fuerte polo tecnológico y farmacéutico. Es más una ciudad para vivir y trabajar en el corazón de Israel que un destino turístico.Petah Tikva is a city in Israel's Central District, right up against Tel Aviv and part of its greater metropolitan area (Gush Dan). Its place in the country's history is large: founded in 1878, it's one of the first modern-era Jewish agricultural colonies, which is why it's called Em HaMoshavot, the Mother of the Colonies. Little remains of those fields and orange groves: today it's a dense city of industry and offices, with a strong tech and pharmaceutical cluster. It's more a place to live and work in the heart of Israel than a tourist stop.
