¿Cuánto necesitas al mes en Larnaca? How much do you need per month in Larnaca?
Larnaca works if you want a European base with the sea, sun almost year-round and daily life handled in English, without paying Limassol prices. Fibre is solid, the city is small and walkable, and the airport is about ten minutes away. But it isn't cheap: groceries and especially electricity cost Western-European money, and rents jumped hard after 2022. It won't work for you if you want a big, buzzing nomad scene (that's Limassol, about 45 minutes by car) or if a 33-36 °C humid coastal summer flattens you.

Good — better than people expect from an island. Fibre to the apartment (Cyta, Epic, PrimeTel, Cablenet) covers much of the urban area, with typical plans of 100-300 Mbps and 1 Gbps options where the network has landed; around €30-45 a month. Mobile is 4G island-wide and 5G in the city. Two real caveats: fibre is per address, not per neighbourhood — older buildings and nearby villages (Oroklini, Aradippou) can still be on 30-50 Mbps VDSL, so ask about the exact address before signing. And Cyprus's power grid is isolated, with no interconnection to Europe: day to day it's stable and there are no scheduled cuts, but heatwaves push the system to its limit and major outages have happened. Keep a battery and a generous mobile data plan as backup if you live on video calls.
CoworkingCoworking
Escena chica y tranquila. Small, low-key scene. There's a handful of little spaces near the centre and the Finikoudes area, most with few desks, hot desking in the region of €100-200 a month. I won't name them: in Larnaca these places open, move and close fast and I don't want to send you to a locked door — find them once you're on the ground, or ask in the expat groups. Plenty of people just work from home or from cafés; the wifi holds up, a free table at 11am in summer doesn't always. If you need a dense work community, Limassol and Nicosia offer far more and are 40-60 minutes away.
Finikoudes and the centre: the palm-lined seafront promenade, everything walkable, restaurants and most of the furnished stock — also the priciest and the noisiest in summer. Mackenzie: the beach strip to the south, bars and lots of foreigners, but it sits next to the airport and under the flight path. Drosia and Faneromeni: residential and inland, still walking distance to the centre, same amenities for roughly €100-200 less a month — where people who stay tend to end up. Oroklini, Livadia and Aradippou: quiet outskirts, the cheapest option, with an established British community, but you'll basically need a car.
ComunidadCommunity
Meeting people is easy, and it happens in English: Cyprus was a British colony until 1960 and nearly everyone speaks it, so you never need Greek for daily life (though trying goes a long way). There's a large, long-established British community and, since 2022, a big Russian and Ukrainian one. Spanish speakers are few — don't count on finding a Spanish-language crowd. The real channel is Larnaca's expat Facebook groups plus classes and beach sports; the serious tech meetups are in Limassol and Nicosia. And the thing nobody warns you about: in winter the city downshifts hard and several beachfront businesses close or cut their hours.
Arrive between May and September and you'll pay more and choose less; hunting in October or November is a different world. Budget too for a one-year contract, a deposit (usually one or two months) and, if you go through an agency, a fee — ask upfront. Electricity: among the most expensive in the EU, and July-August at 33-36 °C with coastal humidity (plus heatwaves past 40) forces the A/C on; budget for it, it's not an extra. Water: the island lives with chronic scarcity and leans on desalination; in dry years there are restrictions. Transport: buses are cheap but infrequent, almost everyone drives, and here you drive on the LEFT; living outside the centre means adding a car or scooter. Mackenzie is gorgeous, but planes come in low: view the flat when they're landing, not at noon. Banking: opening a Cypriot account is slow and fussy because of anti-money-laundering checks — bring more paperwork than you think and don't count on having it within a week. Visas: Cyprus is in the EU but has historically NOT been part of the Schengen area, so your days here did not count against the Schengen 90/180 allowance; its entry keeps being pushed back, so check the current status before planning your European calendar. There is a Cypriot digital nomad visa with a limited quota and a high monthly income requirement (on the order of €3,500 net); confirm the quota and the figure at the official source before relying on it. And since everything here is paid in euros, the dollar figures above are a reference — the exchange rate can swing your budget 5-10%.
Figures in US dollars and approximate, reviewed in September 2026, for one person. Rents move fast in nomad-heavy cities — use these to compare and budget, not as a quote.
If Larnaca grabs you, next comes the practical stuff: real cost of living by neighborhood, where the coworking and good internet are, the nomad community and which visa lets you legally stay past 90 days.
